Essex-based developer Parkland Developments has completed the installation of fascias and soffits in the Hazy Grey coloured finish from Swish Building Products.
The Riverside development in Braintree was commissioned by Chelmer Housing Association and Braintree District Council last year.
Delivered by Parkland Developments, the first two phases of the project are nearing completion, with fascias and soffits from Swish now installed to roofline on all 73 units.
Highly insulated and featuring photovoltaic panels on each property, the contemporary units have been designed to maximize efficiency and minimize ongoing maintenance and running costs.
Steve Crow, production manager, Parkland Homes explained: “We have designed the units to be as efficient as possible. They’re highly insulated and all feature solar panels.
“The roofline fits in with that. We have tried to design out ongoing maintenance costs and so PVC roofline was a good fit.”
“The hazy grey finish from Swish Building Products was also a good match to the overall appearance of the project. We had grey rainwater and grey windows so it was important to achieve a good match.”
“Clearly the product has moved on significantly in recent years and it shows how flexible PVC can actually be.”
Swish Building Products offers a range of co-extruded PVC colours. Alongside Hazy grey this includes Light Grey, Anthracite, Bright White and White.
The cellular PVC specialist also offers a range of foiled wood-grain finishes including cream and Irish Oak, mahogany, rosewood, light oak, white wood grain and black.
Ancillary products including cappit board, window board and trims are also available from its foil range, all of which carry the Swish 10-year guarantee.
Greg Wilde, Swish Building Products, said: “Some of the colour options have actually been around for some time but in it is only now that we’re seeing them widely specified with new focus on life time cost savings and affordable delivery.
“Some of the new wood grain foil finishes are by comparison recent innovations but they’re having a significant impact. The Irish Oak finish for example enjoys significant consumer appeal.
“We’re also seeing growth in the commercial sector where wood grain foils are being specified over traditional timber alternatives, where they offer a more durable and lower maintenance alternative.”
