Spectus Window Systems has been awarded Police Preferred Specification status across its Elite 63 and Elite 70 ranges, inclusive of its casement; tilt and turn; fully reversible and vertical slider windows plus PVC-U doors, under the Secured by Design licensing scheme.
As the official UK Police flagship initiative supporting the principles of ‘designing out crime’, Secured by Design (SBD) operates a membership scheme for companies and products which meet its high and exacting standards. Having successfully tested its products against the requirements of SBD, Spectus Window Systems is now a Secured by Design member company, and as such has been awarded usage and display rights for its logo and ‘Police Preferred Specification’ title.
“In attaining Secured by Design membership we have strengthened our support package for our existing customers,” comments Phil Duncombe, product manager for Spectus Window Systems. “While a number are already SBD approved fabricators of Spectus Window Systems products, there are some that are yet to reap the rewards of this exclusive commercial opportunity. In testing our products we are laying the foundations. Our customers can embark on the journey towards SBD membership reassured that with our support and the security of our test data that they will achieve and exceed the requirements needed to become a Secured by Design approved fabricator company.”
The principles of SBD have been proven to reduce crime risk by up to 75%. Its objective is to cut burglary and crime in the UK by designing out crime through physical security and processes.
